In my opinion, the current implementation of filters in the query state should be refactored.
Use cases
As a user, I can filter documents by a field with a given value, e.g. file_type:pdf
As a user, I can filter documents by a field with multiple given values e.g. file_type:pdf or file_type:txt
As a user, I can filter documents by a field with a given value and by its subfield with a given value, e.g. type:publication and subtype:article
As a user, I can filter documents by a field with a given value and by its subfield with multiple given values, e.g. type:publication and (subtype:article or subtype:book)
As a user, I can filter documents by a mix of the previous
