How are we going to handle golang code? Should we recompile using some type of make style script? Packaging go?

Not related to this IMO, more to how we'll structure the maintenance branch for golang code which needs brainstorming, I'd ignore this in the scope of this issue

Should an administrator be able to run the maint.pl from the gui?

Not IMO but nothing against it
