πŸ”₯[πŸ›] Aggregation using reference data type #4671

Issue

I'm using firestore to save data of my app. I'm using two collections posts and users and one of them (posts) has reference as data type pointing to another users/id. I'm trying to do an aggregation like this:

const db = firebase.firestore();

export const getAllPublishes = () => {
    return dispatch => {
        db.collection("posts").get()
            .then(snapshot => {

                let allPost = [];

                snapshot.forEach(doc => {
                    doc.data().post_id = doc.id;

                    doc.data().user_id.get()
                        .then(snapshotUsers => {
                            doc.data().display_name = snapshotUsers.data().display_name;
                            doc.data().photo_url = snapshotUsers.data().photo_url;
                        })

                    allPost.push(doc.data());
                });

                console.log(allPost)

                dispatch({ type: GET_PUBLISH_STATE, payload: allPost });
            })
    }
}

So far so good, I have what is supposed to have:

{
description: "Procuro por este copo de vidro"
display_name: "Elisandro Mariano" // <== This field is result of aggregation
image: "https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/api-kezuke-dev.appspot.com/o/elisandro-mariano%2Fposts%2Fcopo-de-vidro%2Fcopo_de_vidro.jpeg?alt=media&token=deb7febb-9f3e-4f3c-a7dc-df65e4641a14"
photo_url: null // <== This one too
post_date: 1607716448717
post_id: "1070504263529"
post_name: "Copo de vidro"
status: false
user_id: FirestoreDocumentReference {_firestore: FirebaseFirestoreModule, _documentPath: FirestorePath} // <= Reference
}

When I try to get result.display_name it return to me undefined. Whatever field I try to get return the value.

@mikehardy, a help... ?

mikehardy commented 3 years ago

Finish getting the posts first then post process maybe But I am not sure, this looks like a project specific issue

mikehardy commented 3 years ago

React native 63 should go with react 16

ithustle commented 3 years ago

What do you suggest? A downgrade of react?

andersonaddo commented 3 years ago

It may be because you're pushing to allPosts while you're waiting for the previous promise to resolve. Try putting your allPost.push(doc.data()) inside the then clause.

andersonaddo commented 3 years ago

Also isn't doc.data() read-only? I don't think changing anything via doc.data().x = y will change subsequent calls to doc.data()

ithustle commented 3 years ago

@andersonaddo, I realized that the reason. Thanks.
