So by reading around prior issues I understand there is currently no support for running RNFB within jest on a firebase emulator. I understand this is due to the complexity of platform specific installations of the module but it would be a really nice feature to facilitate integration testing.
It's my understanding that jest === unit tests + mocks firebase emulator suite is definitely not a mock, I believe you want Detox or ChromeDriver for integration testing so you are actually testing the integration of SDKs+emulator+your code
Thank you so much for clarifying!
Issue
I want to use the emulated version of firebase in conjunction with Jest for my React-Native project but I am getting this error:
The link btw returns a 404.
I get this error when I try to call anything related to firebase in my tests, for example if I do something like this:
import firestore from '@react-native-firebase/firestore';
Or if I try to set up the emulator in the set up (instead of in the index.js, although this isn't a major inconvenience).
I have seen Jest used with firebase in other apps but is it possible for react-native-firebase? Am I doing something wrong? It would be so useful to get this running to be able to make good integration tests. Any advice for jest or testing with react-native-firebase is very much welcome.
