🔥 [🐛] Adding firebase/app breaks iOS emulator #6342

Closed gilhrpenner closed 2 years ago

gilhrpenner commented 2 years ago

Issue

When adding Firebase to react native project it breaks and cannot start iOS emulator. Just followed the getting started section with nothing else on the repo.

Here is the repo with the issue https://github.com/gilhrpenner/firebaseissues

Hey there!

2 things you'll need

1- the variable $RNFirebaseAsStaticFramework = true in Podfile as described in documentation https://rnfirebase.io/#altering-cocoapods-to-use-frameworks 2- this patch-package patch, otherwise you cannot use react-native 0.69.0 yet (0.68.2 would be fine though) - https://github.com/mikehardy/rnfbdemo/blob/main/patches/react-native%2B0.69.0.patch

For 2 above they are from 2 PRs that we worked up in the react-native testers group - they will be in react-native 0.69.1 -

That will get you moving, I fully scripted it here: https://github.com/mikehardy/rnfbdemo/blob/main/make-demo.sh so there won't be further action here unless you have bad interactions with other modules because of use_frameworks or are using Expo at which point you want to follow #6332
