Well done Josh!!

Fonti's contribution:

Wrote a function for plotting barplot of species by family and used map for this
Moved collect() calls to the start
Removed unnecessary filter(!is.na(species))calls.

@JoshNitschke can you take a look at this then we can merge into master. This is more for your benefit of seeing what things are changed and the style of coding etc.
