[bug]: ControlNet Parameters readibility issue with Localized text #5390

Open Harvester62 opened 10 months ago

Harvester62 commented 10 months ago

Is there an existing issue for this?

OS

Windows

GPU

cuda

VRAM

8GB

What version did you experience this issue on?

3.6.0rc2 (154da609cbb3b8b265acdaf60b5234dd78074408)

What happened?

When activating the Advanced Options for the Controls, the labels and drop-down selection for the ControlNet's "Control Mode" and "Resize Mode" are hardly readable without enlarging quite a bit the left panel, as per screenshots attached. I would suggest to have these two fields one on top of the other, as it is done for the T2i adapter's parameters, for better readability.

To mitigate the above issue, I tried to compact as much as possible the description text for the labels, and I can't get them shorter. This is just an attempt to reduce the length of the localized labels, not the final solution.

Unfortunately, as for many languages with a Latin root (Italian language in my case) it's very difficult to be as concise as with the English language, therefore, some form of layout reorganization might be needed in some extreme cases.

This is what it looks like now: immagine

I look forward to read some developer comments on this and if I should keep this bug report open.

This is pretty hard to solve in a clean way. I'm not excited about changing the layout. Maybe we can truncate the labels and show the full label in a tooltip.

Harvester62 commented 9 months ago

That might be a solution and a good use of the tooltip. I always try to avoid truncated terms where possible, unless they are very commonly used terms which everyone might understand. Removing the term "Method" from the above labels still retain their meaning, and they are now more readable, therefore we might close this report.

There is a specific case which is really a pain, and without truncating a term or modifying the translation it can't be solved, therefore I need your approval to (eventually) use this technique in extreme cases (only). Here is it:

which results like this in the localized language (IT)

and the best I could do is this

Alternatively, I can modify the translation like this
