For the species/genus content, I have realised that it may be more complicated, so I am sending a file with the species that should go in each map. The genus level can be used in some cases if we only use our database, not the whole OBIS. See details below in the list of maps.
DSP species all Dinophysis. Phalachroma all Prorocentrum from our dataset - excluding Prorocentrum cordatum - two different colours, one for Dinophysis/Phalachroma and the other for Prorocentrum
PSP species: all Alexandrium (except A. pseudogonyaulax) and Gymnodinium catenatum two different colours for the two genera
ASP: Pseudo-nitzschia with species names and flags 1-good or 2-probable, plus Halamphora and Nitzschia bizertensis the latter two with different colours
possible ASP: all the species of Map 3 plus all other Pseudo-nitzschia, either only genus or species with lower quality flags
Ostreopsis and ciguatera species: Ostreopsis (all species and genus entries) plus Gambierdiscus and Fukuyoa all species and genus entries, the latter two with different colours
Other toxic events, see the file attached for the list, they are too many to have multiple colours I think
[x] I would try a still larger dot. As you can see from the ppt example attached here, the dots are too small even with maps on the whole page width (and I would put them as column width). Maybe we could keep that small size with the decadal maps with all the species together.
[x] Do you by chance have an OBIS Mediterranean map with the geographic names?
[x] Please remove Halamphora coffaeformis from the ASP map, there can be many more reports from non-HAB literature not considered in our dataset, and that single dot in Greek seas is misleading
[x] I have also realised that the 'Possible ASP' map is quite misleading, because in our database the genus without species name was entered only in some regions. Only for that map, could you please try and use all the entries from the OBIS dataset for Pseudo-nitzschia/Halamphora/Nitzschia bizertensis? I would use that map for the supplementary material.
[x] I am sending along the database with several coordinates corrected, there shouldn't be dots in the desert any longer. We also removed a number of Atlantic entries from our dataset, that I am sending along in a separate file - tehy can be useful to OBIS at any rate.
I confirm:
