The Genomic Observatories Metadatabase (GEOME) was established to help researchers align their metadata with standards such as MIxS and Darwin Core and to create an open-access repository of geographic and ecological metadata associated with genetic data.
Benefits:
Tight connection to DwC format
Possible to add any fields to the uploaded template
Cases of adding metabarcoding data exist (at the moment the references to Tissue fields is not very intuitive though)
Differences to PlutoF:
-LIMS before geome (all laboratory data management) done with a different system
-SRA submission possibilities
-Submit derived sequence data (OTUs/ASVs) to a different repository
-R package for accessing data
