A great project to follow is https://github.com/trias-project, which has developed a species risk assessment that is easy to use and based on GBIF abundances and local weather information as well as climate change scenarios.
In a talk at TDWG conference, it was said that this should be easy to extrapolate to other geographical areas (now this was made for plants in Belgium). https://doi.org/10.3897/biss.4.59172

Re habitat suitability models: maybe we should not limit to OBIS occurrences, but also use GBIF?
