I propose CarapaceLength CarapaceWidth
Carapace is just a body part (So yes go back to the providers)
CL & CW is too short and might get duplicates
minimumCarapaceLength and maximumCarapaceLength I guess those could apply to station aggregated data, but in general I would recommend as they should provide individual measurement as much as possible.
For the MeasurementTypeID, carapace length and carapace width could be mapped to 2 new URIs in P01 modelled on existing s such as "Length (body part) of biological entity specified elsewhere". See for example http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/P01/current/SPCLXX01/
CarapaceLength and CarapaceWidth could go in the AltLabel field in keeping with what was done for the example above. Could we come up with some definition for these terms?
So for example we would have P01 PrefLabel='Length (carapace) of biological entity specified elsewhere' P01 AltLabel='CarapaceLength' P01 definition='The largest horizontal dimension of the carapace of an animal when measured along the central axis of the animal.'
For width: "The largest horizontal dimension of the carapace of an animal when measured across the central axis of the animal.'
referencing: https://github.com/iobis/vocab/issues/7
That would give us: P01 PrefLabel='Width (carapace) (specimen) of biological entity specified elsewhere' P01 PrefLabel='Width (carapace) (average) of biological entity specified elsewhere' P01 PrefLabel='Width (carapace) (minimum) of biological entity specified elsewhere' P01 PrefLabel='Width (carapace) (maximum) of biological entity specified elsewhere'
Which is bit strangely formatted. Maybe we can do one of these?
The original format was based on having the ‘measurement’ followed by ‘of what’ In theory width could be of another body part.

Body parts are defined in our S12 collection see https://www.bodc.ac.uk/resources/vocabularies/vocabulary_search/S12/
We should really use this vocabulary to specify the WHAT. This means that we might have to define new biological entity instances for the body parts of a "biological entity specified elsewhere" in S25.
So the resulting P01 would be
Width of biological entity specified elsewhere [Subcomponent: carapace]
I have a dataset that contains length measurements of Crustacean carapace lengths: carapace (no extra info provided but i can go back to the source and obtain details) carapace length carapace width CL CW minimumCarapaceLength and maximumCarapaceLength
The source data provider would like to use MinimumCarapaceLength and MaximumCarapaceLength as MeasurementType. The source provider is open to suggestions re MeasurementType 'name' for the other measurements.
