updates/bom? #14

At the moment the "part 2" blog post links to a bom that's missing and says you'd be continuing work on this project. Any chance that's still in the cards? It'd be really interesting to buy/build a haptick.

Hi @infowolfe, you're right about the interactive BOM, sorry about that. I'll get it fixed tonight.

Regarding an update - I have built the version with the strain gauges (it's currently the design found in main in this repo), but it totally didn't work like I'd hoped. It looks like the copper trusses are introducing significant torques on the arms and the solution to the Stewart platform isn't solvable or calibrateable.

The good news is that I have some more ideas to test, but haven't yet gotten around to it. Sorry about the slow update rate.

I'll leave this issue open to try and motivate me to sort out an update :)

@m-schubert thanks for the update, I guess I'll just suffer under 3dconn's completely broken drivers when it comes to both MacOS Ventura (prefPane doesn't load or loads empty) and their insanity when it comes to needing to literally invert EVERY axis for shapr3d to work in an intuitive way.

Honestly the fact that they're the only company doing a 6dof controller for CAD in 2024 is wild to me.

Interactive BOM should now be working on the site.

Yeah, 3Dconnexion has purchased a crazy amount of patents and has basically captured the market via them. There are some other open source attempts, including some that look more successful than mine at the moment: https://github.com/pepijndevos/spacefox https://hackaday.io/project/187172-os3m-mouse https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xAk-wegS9o
