Does it actually fix the aforementioned issue? I mean, does it disappear on X11? I would personally prefer wayland if possible...

Low priority. I did not see any anomaly, besides the crash itself. (which is annoying)
Not reproducible? For me it happened only once in 2 occasions, I think. I guess it's 2/3. Hence testing out the patch is cumbersome. (we could test it 3 times?)
Not enough clue. The mentioned askubuntu issue seems unrelated. We could investigate by processing the raw bugreport (what script did gjs fail to execute? What is the stacktrace?) I could investigate it, but I think it's not worth the time.

I think I'll close this for now. For fixing a crash on first startup, I think it's not worth changing something so fragile. (We need to thoroughly test everything if we use this. E.g. for interesting graphical glitches or stolen/stuck mouse pointers or etc...)

But nonetheless, it's something to keep in mind. Thanks for the PR
