- load the provided skeleton project to "Visual Studio 2015"
- build the project
Exercise 2: Upload Skeleton Project on Hardware
- connect the ESP device to the Laptop using a USB cable
- build&upload the project to the device
Exercise 3: Serial Port Communication
- initialize the serial port in the setup function
- print "Hello, World!" on the serial interface
- monitor the serial interface using "Visual Studio serial interface monitor"
Exercise 4: Access Point Connection
- Scan available wireless networks
- Connect to a wireless network
- Get wireless network signal strength (signal strength indicator - RSSI)
Exercise 5: Working with GPIO Pins
- Hardware configuration for LED (Resistor and cabling)
- Turn LED On/Off
Exercise 6: Read data from a sensor
- Hardware configuration for the specific sensor
- Read values and print on serial
Exercise 7: Send sensor data to server via MQTT
- use previous data reading algorithm
- connect to MQTT broker running on Raspberry PI
- send data and observe WebGUI update
Exercise 8: Implement a command device
- use code from Exercise 5
- connect to MQTT broker running on Raspberry PI
- provide a command functionality (ex. LED On/Off) to the server
- listen for commands from server and execute them
Exercise 9: Swap Sensors Between Teams
- Repeat Exercise 6 and Exercise 7
Exercise 10: Implement an ESP as a "Gateway"
- using two ESP devices (1 Station; 1 Access Point)
- Station reads data from sensor and sends them to the Access Point (to the second ESP device)
- Access Point receives data and forwards it to the Raspberry PI MQTT broker
