NCCOS has scientists who are collecting acoustic telemetry data as part of their project. NCCOS is working on writing data management plans for said data but unsure about data flows for acoustic telemetry data, especially archival at NCEI. IOOS was asked to be an advisor in the conversation between NCCOS and NCEI to clarify data flows.
This request is to support NCCOS, NCEI, and OTN on establishing an automated process for archiving acoustic telemetry data at NCEI. This could be allocating some of the data managers time supporting IOOS at NCEI to work on this effort. We will not be building the pipeline, only supporting it's development.
What is the requested deadline and why?
2025-12-31
What is the current status quo (i.e., what happens if this does not get done)?
Unclear pathways for acoustic telemetry data.
Duplicated effort for archiving data at NCEI
What indicates this is done (i.e., how do we know this is complete)?
[ ] Theoretical pipeline is agreed upon by OTN and NCEI
[ ] Process is developed and released as a tool for OTN node managers
[ ] Documentation is updated at OTN (maybe ATN)
[ ] IOOS News Splash (or other announcement) published
Provide a description or any other important information.
