@rsignell-usgs Should we start a list of the notebooks you want to see here? If you enumerate them I will do the rest.

You are going to create a notebook directory, right?
The first ones ones that come to mind are the one that demonstrate:

Accessing Data

CF compliant data via OPeNDAP with Iris:

• [ ] simple map of scalar data (e.g. sea surface height, water depth, bottom layer temperature)
• [ ] same as above, but sliced at a specific depth (e.g. -10 meters)
• [ ] vertical section plot of scalar (temperature, salinity) along a specific index (j=constant)
• [ ] vertical section plot of scalar along a specified path (e.g. thalweg)
• [ ] arrow map of surface current vector data (from models like RTOFS that output co-located east, north velocity components

UGRID data with Iris + pyugrid:
