Adding Alliance forum as global forum for all users #394

Closed RevertIT closed 6 years ago

RevertIT commented 6 years ago

So as an alliance can create categories and forums, let administrators create a global forum for all members as community forum.

not a bad idea, thanks :)

This is already implemented in the forum. If you look closely, there are items of the forum type: public forum, confederation forum, alliance forum, closed forum. Something in the code is not implemented that it is not displayed as needed.

Or something I did not understand.

I think @phaze1G means to add the possibility to create a game-wide forum, not an alliance-specific forum. The forum you can create can be public, but must still be accessed via Embassy and alliance menu, I guess" I've never accessed a public one, so I don't know. As I understand it, the feature requested would be to create a game-wide forum and add a left link as to make it an official server forum of sorts for everybody, not just people in alliances.

In this case, it would be nice to integrate here some kind of platform, like phpBB.

martinambrus commented 6 years ago

Oh no, that's definitely not a way to go. I know you mean well but this would mean we'd have to maintain not just our codebase but also codebase and updates for phpBB or anything else we import into the project. And that's just too much strain, and I don't know of any sane project that does this.

Exactly, the way with Travian forums is that it already shows Guild name and post count so server-wide forums would be a badass thing.

Perhaps this issue can already be closed?

Yep.
