Synthesiser doesn't have enough power #392

Some synthesiser recipes, such as the Fluix Crystal and other AppEng recipes require more power than the RF capacity of the machine. Is this a bug? (Screenshot)

hilburn commented 9 years ago

I believe it is intended - crafting AE2 stuff is a big part of the mod progression, so making these synth recipes unusable with the default power settings for the synthesiser gives modpack makers easy control over their usability. Both the synth max power and synth power multiplier are config options that can be fiddled with to make these craftable. That said @way2muchnoise added these recipes so he should be the one to answer for them

joshuawhiteley commented 9 years ago

Thanks for the info, I didn't know about those config options. I guess it does make sense that they're disabled by default; as you said they are pretty powerful recipes in comparison to the difficulty of the conventional method.

jakimfett commented 9 years ago

Yup, this is intentional. Some stuff is just simply overpowered if there's a way to make it with Minechem v5.

If you (or the modpack creator) wants to adjust things, you can do so via the config file (increase the max stored value for the synthesizer) or via minetweaker.

I'd like to add my two cents, and say that it's kind of confusing to have recipes that can't be crafted with the default configuration. And I don't really see how being able to synthesize certus quartz is any more powerful than being able to synthesize iron.

way2muchnoise commented 9 years ago

@natedogith1 Yeah probs tru it is confusing but with the ae2 of making crystals synthesising them is a bit easy

natedogith1 commented 9 years ago

ae2 doesn't have a way of making crystals, it only has a way of doubling them...

hilburn commented 9 years ago

@natedogith1: from the AE site:

Crafting Fluix Crystal is done in world by placing Charged Certus Quartz Crystal, Nether Quartz and Redstone in the same block of water, after a moment it will react, and convert into two crystals of Fluix Crystal.

natedogith1 commented 9 years ago

Well yes, you can craft fluix, that I get not having a synthesis recipe for (though I still don't agree with using impossible costs to functionally disable it. However, regular certus quartz is too expensive to synthesize, and that I don't get.
