Offering a promotional business card to introduce people to IOTA #23

I had mentioned in the Simplify Discord channel that I would like to offer an easy way to introduce newcomers to IOTA. This came about because my barber recently asked me if I had experience with cryptocurrencies. Although I could give him a basic overview of IOTA, I realized that it would be better if I had a business card that I could pass out that gave basic information about ITOA with easy-to-navigate-to links (QR codes) for more information and local exchanges for buying. I took this on myself and am offering the results to others who might be interested.

Before I offer the files there are a few caveats:

  1. I am located in the United States, so the card I generated is in English and the links to local exchanges are for US buyers. If you are in some other location you will need to translate the text into your local language and change the links to those more appropriate to you. There a number of free online QR Code generators that will provide the QR Code image if you submit the link. Here is one if you don't have another method for generating the images.

  2. I generated the business card using Open Office. This is a free, open source office suite maintained by Apache. You can use some other program if you prefer, but the formatting will probably be shifted and may not print properly.

  3. I used the available images for the IOTA DevNet for the background of the cards because the shades are light and visually pleasing. Yes, I realize that these were designed to promote the DevNet, but I like them. You could use some other background if you prefer.

  4. It is very difficult to distill IOTA into a succinct statement. I came up with a statement that works for now, but I understand that Dom and others in the IF have been working on a more accessible way of describing the protocol. I may change the statement that I've written to the IF version when available.

  5. The first link I included was to the IOTA Beginner's Guide but once the Wiki is more complete I will change the link so that the Wiki is the first source of info for IOTA newcomers.

  6. To print the cards, I used my own printer and purchased some Avery 28878 Clean-Edge printable Business Cards. They snap apart and work really well. There is no perforated edge so they look professional and are relatively inexpensive. I'll offer my local Amazon link here but I'm not sure if the details will be visible in other locales.

Other than that, please feel free to copy, change to suit your needs, or distribute these as desired. Personally I carry 2 or 3 with me in my wallet to pass out to people when the subject of cryptocurrencies comes up in conversation. I have been experiencing this phenomenon more and more frequently in my daily life and passing out the card ensures that the information you give someone doesn't simply become forgotten. If you do find these useful and decide to make changes so they are customized to your location, please upload your version for others to use as well. Thanks!
