For all those missing their balance, simply Generate new addresses, continue to generate as many as you had in your old version wallet, if you had about 50 addresses/transaction, then generate 50, If 100 generate an address 100 times and so on. That's all. You don't have to reattach, promote, broadcast or anything. I think. Thats what i did. the more addresses i generated the more my balance started coming back little by little. Hope this helps. #1197

I only had one address in my wallet and my balance is still showing zero. I tried to generate new addresses anyway and have about 20 now, but it didn't resolve my issue. Any further ideas?

@yugao8 did you have a look on your receive address with https://thetangle.org/ ? You can check there the actual balance of the address an many things more. If you want to, you can share your address here and we will have a look on it.

yugao8 commented 6 years ago

@lo5tinpr0 Thanks for the site. My address is below: WAJDCZWA9E9P9QNLLXNCRGKOBNEVHICSXKH9FWDXOTVIGMUIBVIMMBFCXNWUGFGHRJUKKWOMOCRXNKA9YROQCWJJFZ

I checked and it looks like the balance was transferred out on 1/18. At this point, it seems like I may have lost the funds... But if anyone has any further ideas, I'm open to them. Thanks for your help!

@yugao8 That's correct, yes: The IOTA tangle and your wallet are working fine. That's probably what happened to your IOTAs: https://medium.com/iota-demystified/what-happened-last-night-on-iota-b6157ade1e03 Have you used an online seed generator?

yugao8 commented 6 years ago

@lo5tinpr0 yeap, that's exactly what happened. Thanks for helping me get to the bottom of this.

lo5tinpr0 commented 6 years ago

@yugao8 I'm sorry you lost your Gi, but rule number one: never use an online seed generator! Never, never, never! For the future: Create your seed with something like a password manager, such as KeePass. Then you can keep it safe.

yugao8 commented 6 years ago

@lo5tinpr0 yeap, learned my lesson, thanks. 1 Gi lesson is still cheaper than a college tuition haha. I'm buying back now while cryptos are low at the moment. Definitely won't be using an online seed generator, obviously now I realized how dumb that really was.

@yugao8 I'm glad you took it with a sense of humor ;)
