Cant "Attach to Tangle" #431

I am trying to attach my new seed to the tangle so that I can withdraw my IOTA from Bitfinex before the 11/9 deadline and it wont connect. I have left it running for over an hour and can see that the CPU at the bottom jumps around and a black square shoots across the yellow line so I guess it is doing something.

Should it be taking this long?

Using the 2.5.3 wallet

Also, I selected the bitfinex address in light mode when I first installed and started the program. Can I pick any address to attach to tangle or do I need to go to Bitfinex since that is were I have IOTA stored?
