martinsirbe commented 6 years ago

as the error message states, connection timed out, seeing the same thing

SidIota commented 6 years ago

Is it because IOTA is too busy or is there something we need to do on our end?

martinsirbe commented 6 years ago

@SidIota that's what everyone tries to find out, IOTA devs are ignoring us and keeping us in the dark. :(

SidIota commented 6 years ago

Mine is connected and I see the balance. I hope it works out for you too. I did not do anything special.

@SidIota awesome :) still getting the same CONNECTION REFUSED

althea16 commented 6 years ago

I am having the same issue. Can an old version of the wallet be used successfully? Should I try that.

jaredtse commented 6 years ago

Can someone please help me, II am having the same issue accessing my wallet. Basically, I have try all the Nodes available to connect on the Light Node version, and all fail with CONNECTION REFUSED is this a known issue,

jaredtse commented 6 years ago

This is so frustrating, I want to buy some IOTAs but I am not able to, due to this issue, can someone please tell me when this will be fixed.

althea16 commented 6 years ago

@jaredtse I am still having this issue too. I agree that it is very frustrating. I am told a new wallet is being released very soon. But why do you need the wallet to buy iota?

SidIota commented 6 years ago

All I can think of is they the network is too busy because of all the attention iota is getting. I was able to log in once since u posted but now u am getting connection refused message again. What I don’t understand is why iota devs are not coming back to us and confirming what the issue is. Most of us are just looking for answers.

@althea16 I need to buy, and transfer it out, I am not keen in leaving them in the exchanges, and before I buy second batch I want to be sure that I still have the previous amount,

althea16 commented 6 years ago

@jaredtse I see. I'm in the same boat. When I was able to login to the wallet I sent some from the exchange but now I can't get in to see it. I am waiting to send the rest to the wallet but cannot connect. I share your frustration..

martinsirbe commented 6 years ago

I would send you my iota, but I can't log into my wallet... 😂

ntroll commented 6 years ago

I have had nothing but problems with trying to get connected or log in for over 2 weeks. I try something new every few days after reading threads. I get the feeling that the functionality is just a lot of hype. At a current market cap of 13 billion dollars at the time of writing this --- sure feels like a ponzi scheme to me. The most BASIC wallets and exchanges seem to not work for so many people.

jaredtse commented 6 years ago

Apparently, there is a bug, that the dev team are fixing at the moment, related to the wallet issue. According to this comment https://github.com/iotaledger/wallet/issues/608 see the last post.

And to add insult to the injury, if you have IOTAs in Binance, you are not able to transfer them out to your wallet. The IOTA. dev team are working on another bug, i am not sure if they are related.

I think these 4 servers are likely the best available. I used the first one from Germany and so happy now. Found advise from Korneto02 and it worked for me and lots of others who could not log in. I was so stressed out and now feel like a million $$$. Try this and post if it works for you. I think it likely will. hey guys it worked for me go to these site https://iotasalad.org/nodes.... use the nodes there and try all of those, go custom the host and change curl implementation to ccurl...it takes a while like 20-30 minutes says logging in, you just have to wait

jaredtse commented 6 years ago

Still not able to login, anyone managed to login ? or update from iOta team ?

jaredtse commented 6 years ago

I Managed to login, and all good. phew,

althea16 commented 6 years ago

@jaredtse what node are you using?

jaredtse commented 6 years ago

@althea16 I am using http://node.lukaseder.de.14265, I am not sure why is HTTP, rather than HTTPS.

althea16 commented 6 years ago

@jaredtse Yes! I am also finally connected through this node! Thanks! Yet, thanks for pointing out the "http". I wonder if it is safe to send and receive from this node. What do you think?? EDIT - Actually, I just realized that most of the nodes are "http" rather than "https". So, I'm guessing this means that it should not be a concern. (?)

jaredtse commented 6 years ago

@althea16 In a typical set up connection with this level of sensitive data flowing back and forth, I would say the minimum, security percussion that you should take is secure the connection with HTTPS. I wonder if there is some sort of encryption, under the hood.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE ... These problems have been present all over the Tangle for days and days..

The "RECENT" connection refused has to do with some of the wallets that had PENDING transactions from the exchanges .. I have 5-6 wallets all with different amounts and the one with the pending transactions from the exchange keeps giving CONNECTION refused. All other wallets work just fine logging in.. Doesnt matter the NODE or the computer or the IP - ALL CONNECTION REFUSED !!!!

Makes me feel really great with such a huge chunk of Mi's sitting LOST in space...

Devs have been completely QUITE - Pry cause they are cashing in on ALL the iota coins they are holding, and NOT ALLOWING the exchange folks to cash any profit ...

As ive said many times before. This TANGLE owns you.. The Iota will never work with the devs that are at the head of this shipwreck.. They are busy fighting with other coins like LTC .. INSTEAD of actually fixing the issues

.. A new wallet is coming in the future some time.. NO DATES released ... NO Contracts with Microsoft ..

JUST BAG HOLDING IOTAS THAT I CANT EVEN TOUCH hahah!!!!

ballplayajd commented 6 years ago

I am still getting Connection refused every time I try to login with my old seed. This issue only started happening AFTER I transfered IOTA from Binance. The transfer was pending for a while and now says completed, yet I still cannot login in on any node. However, if I generate a new seed to an empty wallet, the login in works. Must be a bug with wallets that have pending or an iota balance.

althea16 commented 6 years ago

ballplayajd, I was in the exact same situation. I am now finally able to login using http://node.lukaseder.de:14265 and the balance is all there. It takes about 1/2 hour so be patient.

mikakun commented 6 years ago

the js error prevented to open the node setting dialog in my case -> go to your wallet folder & edit setting.json, there you can update "lightWalletHost": to whichever node that doesn't trigger a js error

acazorso7 commented 6 years ago

Hello guys, What happens if a transaction remains "Pending"? Can I ignore it and just send the same amount of IOTAS to another address?

naderra commented 6 years ago

G'Day, same problem ... running full node with gui wallet on local hardware (linux) compiled from source v2.5.4 ... after attempting to login several times (which resulted in it just hanging with no feedback whatsoever, eventually it started giving me "CONNECTION REFUSED" (also with no feed back) ... so I removed mainnetdb and mainnet.log and after a short period it allowed login with seed, however it currently shows balance 0 instead of the few Mi it should be showing ... so I've reattached to tangle new receive addresses and proceeding (as the usual pain in the butt that it is to do so) to reattach the previous appropriate bundles (the ones that show the previous balance) from the history ... I expect to see balance after reattaching balance which can take a while ... although the system is obviously not 'broken' I can fully understand how for many it can be quite frustrating ... I truly hope that devs soon provide a better all-around system that does all the required steps automagically, provides better user feedback about what is going on, etc ... I have confidence that they'll do so! ;-) ... as stated IOTA is BETA ... expect things like this, and other weirder things to happen for now ... and finally now, 14 hours later the balance moved from being zero, zilch, nada to the few Mi it should be ... I'm kinda used to it by now, and I don't distrust the network like many others claim (maybe they are right) ... but it's just a pain in the butt at this stage to have to wash, rinse and repeat these operations ever too often to get the wallet working (if these are actually helping ... cause maybe it's just the network) ... well now that its working again I plan on playing with another fresh seed and sending some iota's to it's first address ... see how we go ;-) ... good stuff for beta ... at least it works!
