Do you have the Ledger Live app open? It seems like having it open at the same time as Trinity causes some interference.

No, The Ledger live app is not started :( See my updated description
@dangenendt Likely worth deleting the %appdata%/Trinity folder and setting up fresh
@dangenendt Any luck?
@dangenendt I have the same issue as you. Once the iota shows 'You have to connect the Ledger in order to use it', I quit the iota program on the ledger and re-entered. After trying this for about 10 times, I finally went in. But it's still an issue, I tried version 1.4.2 and 1.4.5, not difference.
@cvarley100
I get it successfully to work on my MacBook.
I will try your workaround soon on windows.
@tunlong Interesting. Thank you
Same problem here. @rajivshah3: Can provide traces, if you have a debug version for me?
@baylander Is it not working for you on the latest version?
Update2: Wanted to see, if my usb hub was the prob:
Update: This time i did the following, before opening Trinity:
Seems to work now.
@rajivshah3: Thanks for the reply. No, sadly not.
Tried... 1) Uninstall/reinstall 1.50 2) Uninstall / install 1.10 / same problem 3) upgrade 1.10 to 1.50 -> still same prob
Tried Linux Version (Ubuntu VirtualBox) -> Ledger is recognized, but is not allowed to be used in Trinity app. Switched to my wifes Mac OS -> finally worked! :)
Ok, so it was resolved by connecting and unlocking the Ledger before opening Trinity?
Yes.
I have the same issue.
Remove %appdata%/Trinity
and do a re-setup works for me.
I think that I have the same problem.
Trinity hangs/crashes when connecting to the Nano X. It is not reacting and I need to close it via the Windows taskbar.
There are three ways this can happen:
Ledger is already connected before starting Trinity. Trinity gets stuck in the IOTA logo animation
Ledger is connected after entering the Trinity password Trinity gets stuck and still shows "Um diese Funktion nutzen zu können muss ein Ledger verbunden sein."
Sometimes when I try way 1 or 2, it gets past this message and asks me to unlock the Ledger and start the IOTA app. When I do this it seems to go on but then goes back to the message "Um diese Funktion nutzen zu können muss ein Ledger verbunden sein."
I already had those problems when setting up the wallet but somehow it was working for some time after multiple tries. Now, I cannot use it at all.
After trying this again with current firmware and trinity wallet, its still the problem to connect the device with some little differences then before. I click onto "new device", connect the ledger, enter my pin and then trinity tells me that the ledger is connected. After selecting my index, trinity tells me to start the iota app on the device. When i do this, nothing happens... I tried all things mentioned by the other guys without success.... this sucks!
Ok, i finally get it to work... I just started the Ledger and IOTA app and after that i started trinity -> same procedure as before -> it worked

Thanks for sharing this, I was also struggling with disconnects while recovering my seed but opening the IOTA app on my Ledger before opening the Trininty Wallet worked!

UPDATE Ok, seems like i am a step furhter but its still not working. It looks like my wallet is completely destroyed :D I just connected and unlocked my Ledger to the computer and started trinity. Now, clicking on "add account" shows me "Yay, your Ledger is connected - new account or recover?" I clicked recover and i had to select an index. I choose 0. After that my Ledger shows me "generating address". Shortly after that, trinity shows an error like "You have to connect the Ledger in order to use it". And nothing happens... now i tried to restart Trinity but the only thing i see is i completely white application. I cant do anything :(
