support certificate authority data #65

This adds TLS support as requested in #8 . It seems that this issue was closed last year and has not seen any activity since. Not sure if the effort was abandoned for a specific reason. This is my first time contributing to this repo, so if you have any feedback please let me know. Changes are fairly minimal and should be clear. Thanks!
