log gc failures #108

Currently failures are simply swallowed, so I don’t know why e.g. incremental_delete_orphaned fails.

Hmm, I think I got confused and targeted the wrong branch: the diff with dvc94ch/sim-open-2 is quite large. Could you remind me what the meaning of which branch is?
