Connecticut IPFS #114

When it comes to CT, I have relationships and suggestions for places to hold another IPFS meetup like the one in NYC.

I can understand that this might not happen for a while due to priority of other locations (e.g. Boston) - and when it's CT's turn, I can help locate/promote/logistics, etc.

I can help with connections for:

Nice! As someone who grew up in CT, this would be nice to see. It is not the biggest tech hub in the world, but there might be some interest.

If anyone is interested, post here.

I proposed IPFS as a topic for CT Software Developers Meetup in Southbury CT and I have a yes answer. I would at a minimum learn enough to present an introduction along with a demo to his great group of sharp devs. I would also welcome all input/participation from anyone who might want to come up to CT. I could provide a ride fromt/to train station for anyone coming up to present. I am working on an outline this week, and can work out timing with the host after that.

@RichardLitt Would you please point me to resources that I can use for presentation to CT Software Developer Meetup?

Refine here - seeking to have a firm plan by 4/27, with perhaps a date in May sometime.

@groksie The proposed agenda for a Meetup on IPFS looks good to us here at NorthPage. We'd be thrilled to host at our Southbury offices and learn more about IPFS. Let us know if you need anything else and when you are ready to coordinate an upcoming date.

@groksie Looks good. I'm working on getting some resources (slides); for now, I would suggest looking at github.com/ipfs/ipfs, the website, and github.com/ipfs/awesome-ipfs for cool stuff that could be demo'd or shown. The goals sounds good to me; the QA might be a bit long. I'd also be interested in what you come up with for the 1-page list of resources.

👍

@jwinfield and @RichardLitt : Thanks for the hosting and feedback. I would love to meet in the conference room, show slides and keep the presenting part short and the q&a + discussion longer to listen to attendees thoughts and perspective.

@jwinfield what dates in May would work for you? What day of week?

Thanks all for your help and contributions.

What do you all think about reshaping the 45-minute Q&A into an install-fest with open discussion, followed by a round the table sharing of impression/thoughts?

Update: I have a date set aside 2016-06-08 in Southbury CT. Next step is for me to write the meetup topic description, and email it to @jwinfield - and he will post. I will give specific details when it's live on meetup.com

I have decided that during the longish (45-min) discussion into a time where willing users will install it on their laptops and we can have some fun with it and drive the conversation.

This aside, I have also agreed that I should have some very quick demo to show up front at the beginning of the meetup, to gain credibility with attendees and anchor the things that I will say/show on the screen.

To be sure, I am certainly not qualified at this time to speak on the technical details, however I believe I understand the overall impact, especially in the context of the other decentralization projects coming at us (the world) very quickly - such as bitcoin, blockstack, openbazaar among others.

Most of all, I identify strongly with what @nicola shared at the MIT etherium meetup a few months back.

Unless anyone has another demo that they would like to suggest, I just went through the getting started pages on ipfs.io website and I think that would do the trick, especially if I change the file, and put the current time, etc - or some other word someone in the audience wants to suggest (like a magic trick heh).

Thanks for all your help, and inspiring me to spread the good news.
