ShastraOS is a Linux desktop workstation that prioritizes security, decentralization, and privacy. It is designed to provide both high performance and user-friendly experience, while also ensuring daily decentralized backups on Filecoin for extra safety. To enhance the efficiency of the operating system, we have established IPFS packages mirrors for software packages within ShastraOS.
2. How will IPFS, Filecoin, or related technology be used for this project? (max 100 words)
ShastraOS utilizes IPFS to host package mirrors for software packages, allowing for fast and efficient installation of software. Filecoin is also used as a daily decentralized backup solution, providing an extra layer of security for users' data.
We are building Astra, another protocol entirely on top of Filecoin. It utilizes Filecoin's decentralized storage network to provide a secure and decentralized way to store personal backups. Astra Protocol also integrates with Deja-dup, a popular backup tool on Gnome desktops, making it easy for users to store and retrieve their backups.
3. How will you improve your project with this grant? What steps will you take to meet this objective? (max 200 words)
In order to improve the project with this grant, we plan to focus on the following objectives:
Improve mirrors and latency, while downloading the packages in ShastraOS.
Will develop developer infrastructure to build dapps for ShastraOS and host them on IPFS-powered mirrors.
We plan to use the grant to increase community outreach and education about the benefits of decentralized technologies such as IPFS and Filecoin. This will include creating educational materials, organizing community events, and supporting developers who are interested in building on top of IPFS and Filecoin.
We will develop Open Packages Repositories for Linux Distros on IPFS.
4. Is this project open source?
We are always Free and Open Source. We support FOSS 💚.
5. Do you agree to share grant reports upon request, including a final grant report at the end of the three month period?
Yes
6. Does your proposal comply with our Community Code of Conduct?
Yes
7. Links and submissions
If your project began at a hackathon, have you submitted it for the relevant Protocol Labs prizes? Include links here if available:
No, we didn't submit this project in any hackathon.
Additional questions:
For each team member(s), please list name, email, Github account, and role in the project.
