MyTracks app using too much battery power when idle #1479

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Install the MyTracks app
2.Wait (probably need to reboot and wait at least 3 hours)
3.Go to Settings>Battery

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect MyTracks to not even be listed, or be at the bottom since I
haven't even opened it.

Instead, MyTracks is the HIGHEST consumer of battery on my phone, reaching as
high as 55% of my total battery consumption!

What version of MyTracks are you using? On what version of Android? On what
phone?
MyTracks Version 2.0.6
Android Version 4.4.2 (Nexus 5)

If possible please provide a log by uploading here.
Detailed instructions can be found here:

I'm sorry, the suggested logger was not compatible with my device :-(
nevermind, I used catlog and have attached that for you.

Please provide any additional information here:
I have tried force-closing mytracks and clearing data but nothing seems to
help. Simply having it installed is ruining my battery life. :-(

Wondering if you can let me know if "Sync to Google Drive" is turned on on your
device.

I have the same problem in my Nexus 5 with android 4.4. Have been reporting the
app continuously, but it keeps appearing in the list, responsible of 25% of the
battery usage

Experiencing exactly the same problem.
Synch with drive is off in My Tracks, its NOT collecting any info currently,
the desktop widget is used on desktop (4x2 size), nothing else is run (My
Tracks is out of memory - removed it / swiped it out from the list of apps in
background).
Screenshot consumption is taken after a night of standby with no power plug in
(not charging).
Just installed new update (today) - lets see what it changes (if anything).

Nexus 5, Android 4.4.4
