Can't connect to MSN #8

I have no problem connecting to Gtalk, but couldn't connect to MSN. It also takes a really long time to connect to facebook chat. Here's the terminal log:

Connecting user xxx@chat.facebook.com... An error occurred while looking up _xmpp-client._tcp.chat.facebook.com Connected with xxx@chat.facebook.com Connecting user xxx@hotmail.com... An error occurred while looking up _xmpp-client._tcp.hotmail.com could not connect!

Running on Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit.

Does MSN even use the XMPP/jabber protocol?

Sorry I'm a total noob at this. I just finished setting up MSN through jabber using psi. Everything's working fine except that I have to start psi first every time I connect from VimChat otherwise the contacts don't show up. Is there a way to get around it?

This is very strange. Can you clarify please. When you start vimchat, your contacts don't show up? Then when you start psi, your contacts show up in vimchat?

Yes, if I start vimchat, nothing shows up under my jabber account. I have to log out of vimchat, log on psi, then reconnect to vimchat for my contacts to show up. After that I can chat just like normal even if I log out of psi.
