Acutally, the mechanism for creating a chrome extension from a userscript already installed in Chrome is fairly simple, see the section "Packaging a userscript as an extension" on this page: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11480985/can-a-greasemonkey-type-userscript-be-packaged-as-a-chrome-extension
