I have UTF8 terminal where irssi is installed and I use non-UTF8 server with these recode settings:
recode_fallback = "cp1251";
recode_out_default_charset = "cp1251";
recode_transliterate = "no";
recode_autodetect_utf8 = "yes";
Everything works fine instead of a situation when I have to query somebody with non-UTF8 characters in his nickname or when I try to join a channel with those characters.
Btw, I can receive messages in queries but can't answer (getting no such nick/channel).
Is that due to misconfiguration or a bug in irssi?
