Acme Inc: Machine Learning Adoption (use case summary)
Acme Inc: Machine Learning Adoption (use case summary)
In this scenario the company has decided to apply some machine learning technology to their internal processes. The company is a "data vendor" that has recently transitioned from using legacy processes (batch jobs and FTP) to provide data to customers but is in the midst of transitioning to rebuilding their IT estate into families of cloud-centric API's for partner and customer consumption. As a follow-on, product they'll explore incorporating analytics into their product portfolio of API's
To gain experience building out machine learning projects the team will explore a human resources use case tied to the companies transition from legacy projects based on FTP and the transition to being a SaaS company providing API's to external clients. This transition will require the company to reduce head count on legacy products and transition some resources to SaaS projects as well as identifying missing skills in the organization quickly that will need to come from outside.
Previously the HR team has simply transitioned resources out and brought in new resources as necessary... however the leadership team wants to drive innovation and education cycles with internal use cases. The CIO and HR leadership has theorized that hey can more effectively fill new roles with valuable skills and knowledge they have internally as well as identify missing skills quickly they need to recruit externally. The team will be challenged with identifying the data and process that will make this transition quick and effective and they have 3 mo's to deliver their MVP
The pulled sample data from various sources and consolidated them to a few Sqlite db's for the MVP including:
1. open-roles database
HR database that identifies headcount for new products including roles with associated skills and experience.
Data includes roles, skills, skill levels and recommended experience
2. transitioning-employees database
employees (some of which will transition to new roles).
