Contributions decreasing in the same year #1409

I don't understand, how can contributions decrease if they're measured for same year. This is not the first time I see that. Can someone shed light on this or rather mention a better note near the graph if the criteria of evaluation and title - last year are not in sync ?

The contribution count are for the past year, as in 365/366 days, not the past calendar year (which wouldn't make much sense, IMO).

In the dropdown of calendar years - 2018, 2017. How is this counted. For example, it I select year as 2017, what it would mean for contribution count for that year. What's the starting point?

As you can see if you actually look on the chart, choosing the current year displays your contributions for the 12 month period starting on the present date, while choosing earlier years shows the contributions for those years.
