Please implement this feature. I got an issue that on github web there are some folders which not exists on local repo. Even tried to pull and push, those folders are always there.

What else can we do to make it happen? We may need .. an hourglass, 3 goats, one of us has to learn the trumpet while the other one goes like this - i know a man with a goat. - good! i can go like this

With trends like modular testing, projects get more granular and could have many folders. GitHub should explain why they don't want or can't implement this so desperately needed functionality.

Why don't we stop the +1 (since everytime we get a new notification) and we just +1 on the cirosantilli's first post?
@elect86 You do realize you can mute the thread right...
Yes, but I'd like to be mailed for some good news
@elect86 Then it's your own problem..don't complain when you can choose the things yourself.
Actually it meant to be a kind suggestion ;)

I am stuck right now. I did some work at home and now I want to check out on windows. But it fails because of some illegal characters for windows in an unimportant directory name... Guess I have to delete all files in this dir file by fiel through webinterface :(

Come on, this isn't that difficult.

Edit: done 6 years later: https://github.com/isaacs/github/issues/225#issuecomment-760402810 | https://github.blog/changelog/2021-01-11-delete-directory-from-the-web/
It is currently possible to remove individual files from the web interface, but not entire directories at once.
Proposed UI implementation: add a delete button on the line of each directory on the tree view.
Extension 1: add such buttons for the files for greater uniformity and convenience (no need to click on the file first to delete it).
Extension 2: allow to delete any combination of files. Add select checkboxes next to each filename on the tree view and a delete button.
GitLab: http://feedback.gitlab.com/forums/176466-general/suggestions/5590176-remove-directory-via-git-rm-rf-from-web-interface
Goal: allow people to use GitHub without installing Git or anything else locally.
