Hello, @aikms-maker. Rimraf development team here (it's just me).
What kind of "support" are you interested in?
Unless subject to a paid support engagement, I do not create patches for old major version release lines. If rimraf@5 works for you, great! Keep using it, with my blessing. But "blessing" is about all you'll get. If you encounter a problem or a bug, any fix will be made on version 6 (or whatever the current major release line is at that time), and the resolution of the issue will be "upgrade for the fix".
This is generally the level of free support one can expect from community projects, in my experience. As the license states, you're welcome to use the code, but it is provided "AS IS". No guarantee of support is provided, in fact, any guarantees, even implications of fitness for some purpose, are explicitly disclaimed.
If I know that a given release line has serious problems which will not be fixed, then I'll post a deprecation notice on npm, so you'll start getting warnings when you install something using that old version. But there's no known problems with v5, it just supports a Node.js version that is no longer convenient for me to keep testing on, so I've bumped the major version to update the engines
restriction.
I hope that answers your question. If you are interested in a paid support engagement for rimraf (or any of my other modules), I'm open to that, but we should take the conversation to email in that case.
Thank you for your detailed response. I appreciate the clarity regarding the support for old major version release lines. Based on your explanation, we will plan to upgrade to the latest major version to ensure we receive any necessary fixes and updates.
Thank you again for your support and for providing this great tool.
Best regards,
Hello Rimraf Development Team,
I am currently using Rimraf version 5 and need to know how long this version will be supported as part of our project planning. I could not find specific end-of-support dates in the official documentation or release notes.
Could you please provide any information on the support timeline for version 5? Additionally, how will end-of-support notifications be communicated?
This information is crucial for our development plans, and your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
