keyboard doesn't open in txt files

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open your file organisation app.
2. Tap on a .txt file
3. Choose Jota as editing app

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to be able to edit the filein Jota. Instead I can only read and the 
keyboard doesn't show. I can edit the file by using the small buttons at the 
Jota screen's bottom (cut, undo, redo etc.), but I cannot write.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

I am using the android standard keyboard.

I am getting this on a first gen nexus 7. Workaround is to long click in edit 
are and choose ime input method or something like that.  Not sure what ime is.
