** Use the form below to request a new term ** ** Scroll down to see a term request example ** Please indicate the label for the proposed term: Induced Pluripotent Cell Line (iPS Cell)

Please provide a textual definition (with source):" iPS cells or iPSCs are a type of pluripotent stem cell artificially derived from a non-pluripotent cell - typically an adult somatic cell - by inducing a "forced" expression of specific genes." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Induced_pluripotent_stem_cell Please add an example of usage for proposed term: iPS cells are derived from adult cells, generally from a patient biopsy (skin), or hair root, blood, or spinal tap. These adult cells are pushed backward in developmental time allowing them to be re-differentiated into many different adult cell lines allowing researchers to have direct access to a patient's neural, cardiac, bone or other cell type. They are extremely valuable, expensive to make and easy to share. I think they should be a primary cell type under cell lines. Also, unlike most cell line types they should be linkable to some amount of information about the patient from which they were derived. THis would be information like approximate age, background(ethnic), disease (obviously), and we should be able to tie them together if they are derived from the same family or from the same individual. For reference see Coriell Cell Bank website ( http://www.ccr.coriell.org/Sections/BrowseCatalog/?SId=3 ) Please provide any additional optional information below. (e.g. desired asserted SuperClass in ERO hierarchy or Reference Branch) [ ] Instrument [ ] Biological process [ ] Disease [ ] Human studies [ ] Instrument [ ] Organism [X] Reagent [ ] Software [ ] Technique [ ] Organization Additional info: Synonyms: iPSC, iPS Cell, iPS Cells,iPS * Term request example ** Please indicate the label for the proposed term: four-terminal resistance sensor Please provide a textual definition (with source): "Four-terminal resistance sensors are electrical impedance measuring instruments that use separate pairs of current-carrying and voltage-sensing electrodes to make accurate measurements that can be used to compute a material's electrical resistance." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four-terminal_sensing Please add an example of usage for proposed term: Measuring the inherent (per square) resistance of doped silicon. Please provide any additional optional information below. (e.g. desired asserted SuperClass in ERO hierarchy or Reference Branch) [X] Instrument [ ] Biological process [ ] Disease [ ] Human studies [ ] Instrument [ ] Organism [ ] Reagent [ ] Software [ ] Technique [ ] Organization Additional info: AKA - 4T sensors, 4-wire sensor, or 4-point probe

Added to ontology as discussed with Richard. Will inevitably require tweaks, but happy with first pass.
