Good find! You ok with me replacing that section with the link?
Sure! Sounds good. I'm running the "hopefully" last test now for this. Appreciate the quick responses.
Did you actually get that link working in Islandora? It seems to be a Drupal project jw_player https://www.drupal.org/project/jw_player which actually still requires the jwplayer library which you have to go to longtail for.
To be clear this might not be a good one.
Mozilla.net is not Mozilla
There's a a mismatch of single and double quotes on the echo for "Add a mysql backup script:"
Did we want to point at a link that we aren't 100% sure about?
I was tempted to say maybe we can host somewhere ourselves e.g. like maybe where @ruebot has the existing travis files? We would have to advise people to read the license terms in README since it is only free for non-commercial sites.
I don't think we can redistribute it.
Yeah, I agree with Nick. We'll need permission to redistribute it unless the license for it permits.
I think we have to treat JWPlayer as was it is, you have to go to their site and get it. That's why it doesn't have a drush install script like the other modules that require libraries do, and I don't think it is automatically setup in Islandora Vagrant.
Agreed.
Did we want to bother changing this section at all? Maybe:
NOTE: The link to the JWplayer library is no longer available. You must obtain your own copy from JWplayer due to licensing considerations.
This is their current hosted URL https://ssl.p.jwpcdn.com/player/download/jwplayer-7.6.0.zip
This is their host public url, it isn't hidden behind a login. It just isn't posted anywhere easily seen.
Good find. We still should have a note about users having to review the license to make sure they are ok to use the free version. Has anyone tried the most recent version? Seems quite a bit different from the older library.
FYI it is a holiday on PEI tomorrow and will be on vac for a couple days so I might not be able to respond right away.
I added the
NOTE: The link to the JWplayer library is no longer available. You must obtain your own copy from JWplayer due to licensing considerations.
Adding to this - in the islandora_jwplayer module it says if new system use the Islandora Video.js module.
Closing. Can reopen if group / individual decides to pursue topic.
In the Notes:
Should we keep this? Find an alternative?
