What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Build maven pom with org.springframework version 3.1.2.RELEASE.
2. Add dependency go ehcache-spring-annotations version 1.2.0.
3. Create a Spring application context with a Resource Bundle.
4. Try to run the application (or JUnit test in my case).
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect the application to run without error. Instead it fails with:
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError:
org.springframework.beans.BeanUtils.instantiateClass(Ljava/lang/Class;Ljava/lang
/Class;)Ljava/lang/Object;
as BeanUtils in Spring 3.0.6 is different to BeanUtils in Spring 3.1.2.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version 1.2.0 on Windows 7 with Java 1.6.0_43
Please provide any additional information below.
A temporary fix is to exclude the Spring dependencies coming out of
ehcache-spring-annotations:
<dependency>
<groupId>com.googlecode.ehcache-spring-annotations</groupId>
<artifactId>ehcache-spring-annotations</artifactId>
<version>1.2.0</version>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-aop</artifactId>
</exclusion>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-beans</artifactId>
</exclusion>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-context</artifactId>
</exclusion>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-context-support</artifactId>
</exclusion>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-core</artifactId>
</exclusion>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-expression</artifactId>
</exclusion>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-test</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
</dependency>
A better fix would be to put a scope on the ehcache-spring-annotation
dependencies in
http://ehcache-spring-annotations.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/pom.xml so that the
applications using this library are not forced to that particular version of
Spring. Most would be a provided scope except for spring-test which would use
a test scope:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-aop</artifactId>
<version>${org.springframework.version}</version>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>commons-logging</groupId>
<artifactId>commons-logging</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-beans</artifactId>
<version>${org.springframework.version}</version>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>commons-logging</groupId>
<artifactId>commons-logging</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-core</artifactId>
<version>${org.springframework.version}</version>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>commons-logging</groupId>
<artifactId>commons-logging</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-context</artifactId>
<version>${org.springframework.version}</version>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>commons-logging</groupId>
<artifactId>commons-logging</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-context-support</artifactId>
<version>${org.springframework.version}</version>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>commons-logging</groupId>
<artifactId>commons-logging</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-expression</artifactId>
<version>${org.springframework.version}</version>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>commons-logging</groupId>
<artifactId>commons-logging</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-test</artifactId>
<version>${org.springframework.version}</version>
<scope>test</scope>
</dependency>
