Discussed at the ISO/TC 211 PMG meeting in Berlin, 4 June 2014: Possible NWIP for GIS-BIM work, possibly in collaboration with OGC on CityGML (draft NWIP after Berlin) NWIP submitted: Geographic information -- BIM to GIS conceptual mapping (BIM2GIS) Voting closes 2 March 2016. NWIP has been accepted. ISO 19166 project has started and had a first project team meeting on 6/13/2016 in Tromso, Norway. ISO 19166 started in Tromso (2016). Resolved following PMG meeting in Wellington. See also Stockholm resolution (May 2017):

Resolution 838 Joint new work between ISO/TC 211 and ISO/TC 59/SC 13

ISO/TC 211 welcomes a preliminary work item (PWI) for drafting one or more new work item proposal(s) on GIS/BIM interoperability as a joint work with ISO/TC 59/SC 13, and in close cooperation with liaison organizations (in particular OGC and buildingSMART). ISO/TC 211 accepts that ISO/TC 59/SC 13 will have the responsibility of the joint work.

ISO/TC 211 also welcomes a nomination from national member body of Norway of Mr. Morten Borrebaek as co-convenor for this work item to ensure a strong cooperation between the two committees.
