Possibly already addressed in ISO 19159-1:2014, Geographic information -- Calibration and validation of remote sensing imagery sensors -- Part 1: Optical sensors (IGNORE THIS COMMENT) (In reply to ISO/TC 211 Admin from comment #1)
Possibly already addressed in ISO 19159-1:2014, Geographic information -- Calibration and validation of remote sensing imagery sensors -- Part 1: Optical sensors Over 2 years ago ISPRS raised the need for a standard for LIDAR and indicated that ISPRS would be making a NWIP proposal. This was described in the WG6 report at that time. Nothing ever came from this. ASPRS does have a standard for LIDAR (LAS) that is well used. The issue was raised again at the last TC211 meeting . Again there has been no response from ISPRS or ASPRS. OGC is working on Point Cloud coverages which is related.
This issue should be addressed when we receive an input from OGC or other liaison group. New project 19159-3 is approved ain in work No work in a base standard on LiDAR planned in the near future No work in a base standard on LiDAR planned in the near future Raised at the PMG in Redlands (11/2016): There is now a Lidar community standard in OGC, to be raised and discussed at the JAG in Redlands. This work is superseded by a new project in OGC being done jointly by OGC and ASPRS.

Justification: Joint project with ISPRS considered \n Proposal: Base standard on LiDAR, possibly jointly with ISPRS
