I've seen similar trend with D language as well. It is a fantastic language (minus it's GC implementation and bloaty runtime) with a brilliant, albeit small community and a poor ecosystem. There are three major compilers:

DMD - the formal/official implementation of D2. That's where which all the DIP are implemented at first
LDC2 and GDC - LLVM based and GNU/GCC based implementations. LDC2 is usually a week or two behind DMD in terms of latest features.
