Either:

one process to log all software versions <-- leaning toward this one
first use of a software, log version
separate process per software <-- might be more modular, but may increase number of slurm submissions (if there's a quota)

Bump, incorporate this in a "dependencies check" maybe a

--check_software

I think --check_software in https://github.com/isugifNF/polishCLR/pull/44 should cover this, but feel free to reopen if I missed something.
