Reward for rating games and leaving comments in game jams #964

I've been doing the Löve 2019 jam and rated every game, but it didn't feel rewarding at all. I also gave good feedback on a couple games but even then I am stuck at 1 rating on my game. I talked to the host of the gamejam and we agreed that it would be good to bump games up based on the amount of interaction with other games, like how coolness works in LD. This is just a proposal, however the amount of ratings games seem to get in total in comparison to the amount of people that join the jam, if I recall correctly, seems to be about 5 ratings per developer at average. When one game has about 8 ratings and others about 2, and there is no way to increase the odds of getting a rating as a developer, the outcome of the ratings seem to not mean much.

I wonder if there would be some kind of reward for rating and commenting, the amount of interaction between developers that participated in the jam will increase.

I feel like this was the Ludum Dare's "Killer Feature"

By publicly showing how many games other gamedevs have rated really gives you a sense of your contribution's value. Why would I review someone's game who hasn't reviewed other people's game?

Ludum Dare also takes this one step further, and sorts the games by a coolness to reviews received ratio - so that people who review more games get more reviews.

While I don't think it's good for every situation, I think that "coolness" mode would be really awesome.
