BUGS AND FEATURE REQUESTS - TIKKIEW #120

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
This is a current running list of bug and feature requests from Tikkiew. I will
go through it as soon as I can to condense his list down to relevent issues.

Bill

___
On rss and atom feeds you will see the date information on the playlists.
Can you hide date on feeds playlist?
___

On xbmc there is an option on context menu
when highlighting a folder to play or queue item.
I would request this also on playlists of navi-x script.
And be able to queue item on 1 audio or video file.

On xbmc when playing more music or video items.
You can view on now playing the list.
Defualt keyboard shortcut Now Playing is Spacebar
I wish we can use now playing. On the plugin it works, but not on that the
script.

although one thing I dislike on xbmc. Music and Videos are seperated.
So basically there is no way of using xbmc now playing to play music video
and mp3 files after each other. Can you think of a way to do this? I was
thinking to request this on xbmc/forum?

___

Some sites (mostly movie sites) will always gives you a buffering issues.
Therefore I prefer to see a warning message on Navi-X script and plugin. When
playing a movie of these sites.
Warning message :
"highly recommended to download because of buffering issues.
You want it to download instead?
Download? Play video? Do nothing? "

___

Quote tikkiew from forums on navix.turner3d.net : "My idea was more like
manually identify slow movie sites. Let people play and test some videos. Like
what I was doing on this topic. These videos all need a processor. When trying
to play a video, Navi-X script/plugin would identify the processor. And give
you the warning message . As I described in the other reply."
___

Request to download a video with a script and be able to play this video while
it is being downloaded. I know this is an issue on XBMC. But I wonder If you
already make a ticket for it. If not, Can you do this? Because you can explain
the request in technical terms. And this will give a better change of a
responds and a fix.
___

Requested on http://navix.turner3d.net/
Index • Help and Support • Navi-X on new svn

Request:
Navi-X script and plugin working with addons system

http://xbmc.org/theuni/2010/07/07/submit-your-add-ons/

___

Idea from this topic on navix.turner3d.net
Index • General Discussion • No file Extension

When you download something and the name of file is to long. It always cuts of
the last letters of file. I would rather see that is not cuts of letter of
extension.
___

I am in the progress of cleaning up old bug list on box.net and
want to move them here. You obviously know this issue. But would fine this more
logical to find these bugs also here.

Reported by various people : Getting "Error: Cannot Open File"
This sometimes results in not being able to open any playlist
and a restart is required to resolve the issue.

Issue 28 : optional feature to not dowlnoad thumbnails.
Mentioned cannot open file aswell

Last time isseu has been reported is
http://navix.turner3d.net/forums/?action=topic_view&id=607

quote Rodejo on that topic : This is a known issue on XBOX and I think it is a
XBMC problem. I do not get this very often but
when it occurs iyou have to restart Navi-X.
After closing Navi-X you can check the debug window to see what error is
returned.

___

Navi-X 3.4.1

When downloading installing a skin the key buttons (to example enter another
playlist back) didn't work. And when it finished all the buttons I earlier hit
got activate. I would think this is done for script/plugins because they
download fast. But downloading skin takes longer
and you would notice this. Maybe a better option would be a message that you
need to wait for installing to use Navi-X further?

___

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. It seems when installing Navi-X 3.4.3 from zip file.
You are installing the Navi-X addon not a repository.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Installing from zip is meant (as far as I know) for installing the repository.
If a users would be able to install the repository,
They could also use the auto update feauture on XBMC Dharma.
Settings > addons > auto-update. This would auto-update all addons.

Also I would like that it would be on Unofficial_Add-on_Repositories.
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Unofficial_Add-on_Repositories
If you decide not to put it on official repository or are
not allowed to put it there. Because some laws prevent XBMC at the moment to
put some addons on official addon repository. See
http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=588115&postcount=6

And since there is a Navi-X addons Issue 33 : Can be fixed
___

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Check the playlist. you can download here
2.I notice the items (Danish Add-ons QF Add-ons) on this rss
crash the thumbnail of items and URL of items (on left bottom of Navi-X).
3. If you look in json. You will notice the URL thumbnail is wrong and both of
the items point to github. And most others to googlecode,
that don't have this issue.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I know how to fix this, by deleting URL of thumbnail. If none thumbnail is
displayed. But I would prefer of course if this happens it wouldn't crash the
thumbnails.

___

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Check the playlist, you can download here. I am having issues with files on
github.
2.When I try type=script, I will get the message installation failed. 3.And
when I try type=download , I waited for a minute and nothing happened and I
can't browse any more. And need to restart XBMC to use XBMC and Navi-X.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would prefer that it would download or install the script. Don't know why it
doesn't do that.
And in case it doesn't download, it would not crash.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
XBMC 10.1 Navi-X 3.5.4

Please provide any additional information below.
Does this issue got to do with Navi-X or XBMC?

___

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Items that are type=html on Navi-X XBMC doesn't open.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I wish, I could open these items with firefox.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
XBMC windows Navi-X 3.6

Please provide any additional information below.
The XBMC video plugin "Pipes" can launch firefox. Perhaps this could be of
interest to support this feauture . http://code.google.com/p/pipes-xbmc/

___

At this moment you can see description of playlist on top of the item
This view also make less items visible from 10 to 7.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I wish, I would see the description of item/type= instead of the
playlist/title=. And that the first lines of description when highlighting a
item is always visible.
Example of this view : media info on XBMC Confluence -
http://xbmc.org/wp-content/gallery/confluence/screenshot005.jpg
Why? A user can see in one eyesight what the first lines of description is of a
item.
However I would like equal of items visible as the list:view without a
description on the title. So this means on view: media info you will see 10
items. This would be probably more work for you , but I really think this is
better. Because I and I think most people wouldn't use this view if they will
see less items. People are accustomed with seeing 10 items and don't want to
compromise this.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Navi-X 3.6

___
Downloading a video of videofriender. Example :

type=video
name=The Dilemma 2011 BRRip
thumb=http://videofriender.com/images/logo.png?1218389123
URL=http://videofriender.com/videos/my_video?id=690170
processor=http://navix.turner3d.net/proc/videofriender

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

It doesn't download the video. But gives an error message : Download failed. I
can see what the problem is.
If I filter in URL= everything after the extension. Downloading of video works.

Example after the processor fetch correct URL. Right now I see this

URL=http://nu.videofriender.com:8080/videos/............flv|User-Agent=DivX
Agent

Expected output for downloading

URL=http://nu.videofriender.com:8080/videos/............flv

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
XBMC windows stable version 10.1 Navi-X 3.7

There's a lot of good stuff in here, but it definitely needs to be split up
into individual issues; kind of defeats the purpose if it is not

Yeah I agree with that. Bill made this decision to clean up the open issue list.
And mark my open issues as won't fix.

Those you can search here. But this can create confusion. Because some of them
are really tagged good as won't fix and some of them are just marked won't fix
for the clean up.

I mentioned on this topic. Only the summary of the Issues I wish you look into.
So it makes it easier for you. Anyway you got the ability to open up closed
tickets again. If you want that.

MEDIUM PRIORITY - (in my opinion)

 Issue 51 : XBMC Navi-X repository
Issue 69 : Download issues files on github
 Issue 76 : type=html open with firefox
Issue 79 : Downloading video of videofriender

LOW PRIORITY - (in my opinion)

 Issue 21 : rss & atom , hide date
Issue 24 : xbmc now playing on navi-x script
 Issue 25 : type=special_search_playlists
Issue 27 : message to download or play video because of buffering issues
Issue 28 : optional feature to not dowlnoad thumbnails
Issue 35 : Download always have name of extension
Issue 40 : Cannot Open File
Issue 67 : download and delete color information in file name
 Issue 77 : feature request view : media:info

Hey Guys, I ran this by both of you so this was a mutual decision, not just a
"me" decision. If anyone would like to go ahead and re-open all the tickets, be
my guest, but if you are going to re-open them, make sure you go through the
list and only include workable tickets... no reason to have tickets that can't
be resolved due to XBMC limitations or overly complicated feature requests that
cannot or will not ever be fulfilled.

Anything else is cool with me. Otherwise, it's a waste of space. Thanks fellas.

Apparently I also got the ability to tag tickets open or close on this project.
But I rather leave that up to the developer in question to decide this. Since
this is in my opinion the proper way. Anyway I went though the list and post
those tickets on my previous reply. However I can't comment about issues on the
list that will not ever be fulfilled. Again that is for the developer in
question to decide.

Offtopic - tagging issues

When there are many open issues on your project. Tagging the issues type and
priority is very handy. I see this already being done. But from this discussion
I just want emphasize it. So you don't feel that the open issue list is
cluttered. For example this is the link to not view low priority issues -->
http://code.google.com/p/navi-x/issues/list?&q=-label%3Alow . This is just an
example. Read here more about it -->
http://code.google.com/p/navi-x/issues/searchtips .

Fair enough Tikkiew. :D

We are all friends here as far as I'm concerned. I personally would recommend
until we fins a dedicated developer for Navi-X for XBMC again, we wait to break
off these tickets. I also think that the dev would be able to run through the
list and tell us what's doable or not for sure.

I say we leave it all in one ticket until a dev can re-parse all tickets again
and tell us what is doable or not, hence why I chose to wait on this for a dev.

When I say dev, Turner is doing awesome work, but even he told me he can't dev
new features cause he just doesn't have the time. Until we find that dev, I say
we keep your notes in one all inclusive ticket. Just my thoughts... what do you
think? Thanks.

Hey Turner,

Thanks for clearing up that you are officially the primary developer for
Navi-X. Didn't mean to insult anyone. I will just e-mail you all next time when
it's not appicable in a technical sense or is more of a response than technical
feedback on a ticket.

Thanks fellas!
