I joined my laptop to my phone's hotspot and got the ip of 172.20.10.4, then switched on the Sonoff mini and it was given the ip of .5. I could see my phone had 2 devices connected. I could even ping the sonoff mini. But would it show up in 'tool_01DIY85(3.3.0).exe'? Nope. I guess it has to be .4 or it won't show anything (great piece of software dev by ITEAD I don't think).
Trouble is the dhcp lease time from my phone's hotspot is 24 hours. So if I connect again it will be definitely be given the same ip address.
Do not connect your laptop (or anything else) to your phones hotspot BEFORE the sonoff mini or the .4 ip address will have been given away to that other device, and their crappy software doesn't check any other ip in the range of the network mask. So basically you're done. Doh! Do I wait for 24 hours? Probably not. Looks like the hardcore flashing method for me...
