Please check that your network type
is set to private
and does allow network discovery
. This sloved it for me. Also I did disable all my network adapters except the wifi adapter for the sonoffDiy network.
Thanks for trying to help. But I checked again, and verified that it's set to private, I also turned on discovery. Nuthin....
I've now got my laptop set as a Hotspot using "sonoffDiy" and it's appropriate password. I connect to the sonoff network, and everything looks fine, but when I power up switch,.. nuthin shows in the tool. I can see the device in a ping trace, and it identifies as ESP-nnnnnn. I'm lost.....
the switch just sits there and blinks forever.... quick-short, quick-short, 2 seconds later, it repeats
Did you already tried it with the firewall temporarily disabled?
Hi, same problem for me. I'm able to ping it but i can see anything in the the DIY tool. Firewall disabled, Sonoff is reachable by ping command. Tried on Win10 and Win7 - second on a virtual machine. Same result. Please support if anyone knows the reason....
cichy63, Perhaps we can compare notes, and find our own resolution, as Itead is not supporting us.
what I've done so far....
Tried my old & new Samsung Gs8 & Gs10 as a hotspot. I could logon, but the tool couldn't see it. I also verified that the phone & my laptop were both connected to the router at one point. Still no dice...
Downloaded & tried the newest tool.
I'm now using my ASUS router as the AP, by defining a sonoffDiy network and setting the password. I can logon to the network with my laptop, but the tool still can't see it.
The only thing that appears questionable is weather not I have mdns support - which is how the tool is supposed to find the switch. I didn't when I started, but I loaded Bonjour manually (which supposedly has mdns included).
I don't know what to try next. I'm gonna try to fake it out, by using my HOSTS file to identify the swtch, simulating mdns.
Thanks, Dale
When I try to connect to it via the browser, it doesn't say "not found". Instead it says "rejected login attempt".
H, iDaleChaney i did mainly what is written in the readme and some network tutorial. I set up hotspot with samsung (running on lineage) and huawei p10. I also tried setting up manual, higher IP than the sonoff switch as mentioned in issue #65 . Firmware switch is 3.3. It looks to work fine when connected to my home network with ewlink app. So i have no idea what may be wrong...
I was able to solve this by disabling Windows Firewall (Domain, Private and Public networks)
I already tried disabling the firewall & AV,... same thing.
I'm down to Bonjour not supporting mDNS. I removed the old Bonjour service, and installed Apples version, which I got from Itunes. Didn't help.... I found a utilty "Bonjour Browser" from "Hobbiest Software" that claims to test an installed Bonjour. And, it shows nuthin', an empty display. I guess that's what is going on. I assume I'm getting closer.
Why in the world did Itead write a utilitiy that is dependent upon an unsupported function like Bonjour. Maybe Itead should ship Bonjour with their Sonoffs.
I can't believe that Itead ignores this issue since January, without even a comment. It's their code and so many people are having the same issue.
Same problem here. Windows 10, private network, firewall disabled, Sonoff Mini with version 3.3.
I have a second computer connected and I can see the MDNS messages sent by both Windows 10:
21:31:20.269658 IP 192.168.43.166.mdns > 224.0.0.251.mdns: 0 PTR (QM)? _ewelink._tcp.local. (37)
and the Sonoff Mini:
21:31:20.476740 IP 192.168.43.165.mdns > 224.0.0.251.mdns: 0*- [0q] 4/0/0 PTR eWeLink_1000ca16f8._ewelink._tcp.local., (Cache flush) TXT "txtvers=1" "id=1000ca16f8" "type=diy_plug" "apivers=1" "seq=1" "data1={"switch":"off","startup":"off","pulse":"off","pulseWidth":500,"rssi":-33}", (Cache flush) SRV eWeLink_1000ca16f8.local.:8081 0 0, (Cache flush) A 192.168.43.165 (333)
I've brick'd 6 switches, because I can't get a notice in the tool.
I'm on latest version of Windows 10, and I don't have mDNS. I don't have Itunes installed because I don't need it. I don't therefore have Bonjour service, either. So, I'm guessing that this mDNS doesn't work in my case. And, I've installed stand-alone Bonjour from Apple, but not sure if that's right. How do I test to see if mDSN is working?
What do I try next? I'm running out of switches to try.
