Can not configure Sonoff Basic R3 in DIY mode (unreachable over HTTP) #94

I'm trying to configure my Sonoff Basic R3 in DIY mode.

Following the instructions, I'm able to get it into hotspot mode and connect to the hotspot. However, it does not respond to HTTP requests when I try to access it in the browser in order to give it my network info.

I've tried with and without the DIY mode jumper, but it seems to behave the same way. In fact, I bought three units, and they're all the same. What am I missing?

I actually don't know the firmware version, so I also tried getting them to connect to the sonoffDiy hotspot as a last resort, but no luck with that either. I don't really want to install ewelink on my phone, so I haven't tried that. Any advice would be appreciated.

Edit: URL-encoded the URL so it doesn't break markdown

I used the UART to flash Tasmota, and never did figure out why the units were malfunctioning.
