Hi, i am becoming crazy. My Sonoff dongle v2 E is not working fine. I tryed it with proxmox and a home assistant instance on a vm, but the sonoff seems that after a while goes offline. And change the name from "Sonoff ITEAD *** " to "QinHeng Enterprise". I deided to use my laptop with fedora and KVM and created a new instance of home assistant, it worked a day great, but after a night, the sonoff disappeared from HA, but is present in fedora and kvm. What should i do?

This the result of lsusb on Fedora: Bus 001 Device 022: ID 1a86:55d4 QinHeng Electronics SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus V2

This the usb on home assistant, the last time that was working: DEVLINKS: >- /dev/serial/by-id/usb-ITEAD_SONOFF_Zigbee_3.0_USB_Dongle_Plus_V2_20220812085036-if00 /dev/serial/by-path/pci-0000:02:00.0-usb-0:1:1.0 DEVNAME: /dev/ttyACM0

A dongle E has initial issues when used as a coordinator with Z2M, and definitely when used with HA. Therefore, I only use it as the router only.

What change using it as router? i am still able to add my zigbee devices? how can i use it as router ?

Thanks

You need to load the firmware from this repo available here

What change between be a coordinator and router?

Be careful a router only routes Zigbee traffic it DOES NOT control devices. this means if you update your firmware to router then you will have no control over your Zigbee Network as you need to have a Coordinator. A router is only used to expand the coverage of a network.

I have be using my Sonoff E for about 7 months in the same configuration as you (Proxmox /HA as VM) without any issues...it is running the stock firmware and I have had zero errors using Z2M and HA. (caveat here: I only have 18 Ikea Tradfri Bulbs and Switches and 6 Philips Hue bulbs, also a few Ikea Remotes.....) I have heard of people having issues with Aqara but I have no experience.

Not sure why you are having an issue...are you using stock firmware or have you flashed it with a 3rd party firmware?

Also make sure in proxmox you are passing through the USB dongle as Use USB Device/Vendor as per the included picture. USB

thank you a lot for the support, now i'm trying to start an ubuntu live OS and flash HA OS on the pc so i isntall it as OS without virtualize, i bought a new expandable usb cable 3.0

I ment to tell you that if you are using USB port its super important to use an extention usb cable.. the USB 3 port on your PC creates a lot of radio interference with the USB dongle.....i have a 1 meter extention cable and it seems to work great.... I live in germany and my house walls are like a bunker so wifi has a really hard time getting around my house. I just make sure that I have a bulb in each room in my house as bulbs act as a mesh router as they have power all the time. be aware that remotes and motion sensors are not routers they are end devices and will not contribute to the zigbee mesh.

I have Dongle E running as coordinator on a pi 4 with zigbee2mqtt (docker) and mqtt integration of home assistant (on the same pi, also docker). I have a few SNZB-01, TS011F_plug_1 nad SNZB-02 and it runs quite smooth.
