Baby Falafels πŸ§†

Makes 15 πŸ₯™ Vegan 🌱 Baby Led Weaning πŸ‘ΆπŸΌ Suitable 6+ months

Ingredients: 1 x 400g can of chickpeas (drained and rinsed) 1 small onion diced 3 cloves of garlic minced Juice of 1/2 a lemon (~2 Tbsp) 1 tsp ground cumin 1 tsp ground coriander 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 Tbsp olive oil 1/2 cup fresh coriander chopped (or parsley) 3 Tbsp oat flour Spray olive oil for the tray and tops of the falafels (or use a brush to give them a light coat)

How to:

  1. Preheat the oven to 190c
  2. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend till it comes together (but still has some texture!)
  3. Spray a tray with some olive oil, then using a Tbsp measure scoop and form the falafels into ball/disk shapes (makes ~ 15 falafels).
  4. Gently flatten if you prefer and then give a light spray of olive oil to the tops of the falafels
  5. Cook for 20-25 mins, turning halfway
  6. Serve warm and either whole or cut in quarters

I followed this recipe to a T. The only thing different was that I used a food process instead of a blender. I didn't want a liquidy consistency. I tried it, and it tasted delicious without salt. Did A1 approve it ? @iteles I would probably add a chia/flax egg next time to give it some more binding. I used the air fryer on french fries mode for around 18 minutes ish.

I think they were a little dry for him!

We didn't have any hummus but we will serve some with hummus next. I think next time we should try air frying them too!
